LEVI HUSTON
LEVI HUSTON
BIO
Levi Huston is a self-taught interdisciplinary visual artist whose practice explores the instability and transformation of visual perception through colour, light, pattern, geometry, movement and material.
His practice has developed across geometric and fractal imagery, optical and light-reactive artwork, digital manipulation, drawing, wearable artwork, fabrication and installation, alongside related performance and flow-based practices.
Entirely self-taught, Levi has developed his artistic practice independently through experimentation, hands-on making and ongoing exploration of visual effects, materials, light and movement.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My practice is concerned with the way visual perception can be manipulated, disrupted and transformed.
I work with colour, geometry, pattern, light, movement and material to create artwork that can change depending on how it is viewed, illuminated or experienced. Optical effects, fractal and geometric structures, colour relationships and light-reactive materials are recurring elements within my work.
I am interested in creating work that moves beyond a fixed image and instead produces an experience of visual instability where patterns shift, depth changes, colours interact and the viewer becomes aware of their own perception.
My practice has developed entirely through self-directed experimentation rather than formal visual arts education. This has allowed me to work across different media and techniques, moving between traditional image creation, digital processes, physical fabrication, wearable artwork, installation and light based work.
I also have an established background in movement and flow-based performance, which informs my understanding of movement, light and the relationship between an artwork, its environment and its audience.
My current practice continues to investigate the intersection of visual perception, light, colour, geometry and movement, with an interest in developing these ideas through contemporary interdisciplinary artwork and installation.
